The recent financial crisis heightened awareness of the securities lending market; however, as an over-the-counter, historically opaque area of the financial markets, relatively little information about the securities lending market is publicly available. With the launch of the S&P Securities Lending Indices, S&P Indices has created a useful tool for a variety of analytical purposes including the identification of potential new trading, hedging, and investment opportunities.
