NYSSA Annual Dinner

Over 250 members of the financial community attended NYSSA’s Annual Dinner on June 17, 2009 at The Westin New York at Times Square to hear featured speaker Leon Cooperman, CFA. The event also honored NYSSA’s Volunteers of the Year, SEMI student scholarship recipients, Investment Research Challenge winners and departing board members.
Cooperman discussed the U.S. economic and investment outlook: the economic cycle and stock prices, deleveraging and its effects on growth and inflation, and longer term economic and geo-political issues.
For the first time, a fundraising element was added to the program through the running of a silent auction, and it proved to be a big success. Funds raised through the auction will go towards NYSSA’s educational outreach initiatives and student programs. NYSSA would like to thank all of those who participated in the auction and made donations to help our cause.
We would also like to thank our event sponsors Kaplan Schweser, CFA Institute, Bloomberg, and Chelsea Piers Sports Center; as well as the companies who donated items for the auction:
- Borgata Hotel and Casino, Atlantic City, NJ
- Broadway Comedy Club
- Duck Walk Vineyards
- JetBlue Airlines
