During the recent past, those of us in the financial services industry have faced unprecedented challenges and likewise for the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA). The Society has seen a decline in membership and enrollment in fee-based education. We are fortunate to have a strong balance sheet with the ability to use some of our cash reserves to help us weather the storm. This, combined with operational cost reductions will ensure our ability to consistently refine and improve our membership program offerings.
To address the changing marketplace, the Career Development Committee initiated a series of programs to support unemployed and underemployed members.During these challenging times, these programs have been offered at little or no cost to members. The response to over 75 courses, ranging from interviewing skills training to resume preparation and “Branding Yourself,” has been excellent. In addition, our networking sessions have been very well received. In total during this period, more than 5,600 individuals have taken advantage of our career development program offerings.
We remain dedicated to satisfying the professional needs of you, our members. Moving forward, we hope that the negative trends continue to improve. In the meantime, our doors are always open to feedback and suggestions.Thank you for your ongoing support of the organization in which we all take such great pride.
Sincerely,
Nanci D. Morris, CFA
