My own experience confirms this. I ran a study group for level II and III. We started with 12 people and were left with only 7 after two weeks. (I suspect that the others did not like my style of running the group.) All seven passed level II, one group member had to re-take level III. Running the group and joining a group had two salient benefits for me personally. (1) I felt exceptionally responsible to keep up with the schedule. (2) I could draw on the knowledge of some group members in the study areas, in which I was weak initially. (None of us signed up for any additional courses.)
